Formats and limits
What each advertising format produces and the character limit of every part.
Updated
Each format produces a fixed set of parts, one per field the destination platform asks for. Every part has a recommended maximum length; the generator writes within it and flags anything longer so you can trim before publishing. A single run can include up to 4 formats, and each format counts as one generation.
Facebook Ad
Primary text, headline, and description sized for the feed.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Primary text | 125 characters | Lead with the strongest fact: the price or the offer. Add up to two concrete highlights and the offer deadline if given. No call to action here. |
| Headline | 40 characters | Year, make, model, and trim; add the price if it fits. |
| Description | 30 characters | The dealership call to action, once, in a few words. |
Instagram Ad
Visual-first caption with a clear offer and call to action.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Caption | 300 characters | Open with a concrete hook from the facts (price, mileage, or a highlight), never a question or greeting. Two short paragraphs, then the call to action and dealership name. Up to three relevant hashtags at the end. |
Google Search Ad
Responsive search headlines and descriptions within limits.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Headline 1 | 30 characters | Year, make, model, and trim. |
| Headline 2 | 30 characters | The price when given; otherwise condition and model. |
| Headline 3 | 30 characters | Dealership name or city, or the call to action. |
| Description 1 | 90 characters | Condition and concrete highlights, ending with the dealership location. |

| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Title | 100 characters | Year, make, model, trim, condition, mileage, and price, in that order, separated by commas. |
| Description | 1,500 characters | Facts first: condition, mileage, ownership, highlights, price, financing. Plain paragraphs, no marketing questions. End with dealership name, location, phone, and the disclaimers verbatim. |
Vehicle listing description
Detailed copy for your website and inventory sites.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Description | 2,000 characters | Open with the vehicle and its strongest fact, not a question. Four to six short paragraphs in the dealership tone: overview with condition, mileage, and ownership; each highlight and what it means for the driver; price and financing with conditions; how to see it (dealership, location, phone, website); disclaimers verbatim last. |
Social media post
Organic post for arrivals, price drops, and specials.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Post | 500 characters | One concrete hook (arrival, price, or a highlight), the key facts, the call to action once, and the dealership name. Up to three hashtags at the end. |
Email promotion
Subject line, preview text, and body copy.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Subject line | 60 characters | Vehicle plus the offer or price. No exclamation marks. |
| Preview text | 90 characters | Extends the subject with a second fact (financing, deadline, or mileage) without repeating it. |
| Body | 1,500 characters | Open with the vehicle and offer, no greeting. Short paragraphs of facts, financing with its conditions, the call to action once, a dealership signature with phone and website, disclaimers verbatim last. |
SMS promotion
Concise message for opted-in customers.
| Part | Limit | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
| Message | 160 characters | Dealership name first, then vehicle, price or offer, deadline, and the call to action or phone. Plain text, no emojis, no URL shorteners. |
About the limits
Limits follow each platform's published recommendations at the time of writing (for example 30-character headlines and 90-character descriptions for Google responsive search ads). Platforms change their rules; when they do, the limit is updated here and in the generator at the same time.
